The Waldent Electric Pulp Tester is a device designed to examine the vitality of dental pulp using electric stimulation. By stimulating intradental nerves, it creates a response that helps determine tooth vitality. The device operates efficiently, applying an electric current to the tooth to generate an action potential in the pulp fibers, eliciting a response. This test is conducted by applying a medium like toothpaste on the dried tooth, with one end placed near the pulp horn and the other end on the lip.
